Terms: This is a seasonal, full time job, which requires working days, evenings, and weekends. Shift work is involved.

Salary: will be negotiated and depends on the skills and experience of the applicant.

Education: The applicant should have completed high school.

Experience: at least three years’ experience.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Cook Trade Certification, Food Safe Certificate, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.

Cook Categories: First cook

Work Setting: Restaurant

Food Preparation Specializations: Stocks, soups and sauces, Cold kitchen (salads, appetizers, sandwiches), Meat, Pasta, Seafood

Types of Meals/Food Prepared: Breakfasts, Lunches, Dinners, Banquets, Buffet

Specific Skills: Prepare and cook individual dishes and foods, Plan menus, Ensure quality of food and determine size of food proportions, Work with minimal supervision, Estimate food requirements and costs, Inspect kitchens and food service areas, Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food, Order supplies and equipment, Supervise kitchen staff and helpers, Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment, Work with specialized cooking equipment (deep fryer, etc.), Clean kitchen and work areas, Wash dishes, Schedule staff, Recruit and hire staff, Organize and manage buffets and banquets, Manage kitchen operations

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Own vehicle, Valid driver’s licence
