Experience: at least five years’ experience. Credentials required: The applicant should have Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Trade Certification, Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician Red Seal Endorsement, Driver’s License (Class 1 or A), WHMIS Certificate. Major Work Area: Repair, Overhaul, Maintenance, Service Type of Equipment Repair: Heavy trucks, Cranes Diesel Engine Repair Specialization: Fuel injection systems, Exhaust systems, Cooling systems, Lubrication systems, Engine control systems Mechanical Repair Specialization: Mechanical transmissions, Drive trains and final drives, Power take-offs, Vehicle brake systems, Wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering, Highway vehicle tires and wheels Powered Equipment Repair Specialization: Cable-operated working attachments, Hydraulic-operated working attachments, Winche, Compressors, Pumps Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs) Specific Skills: Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, Determine extent of repair required, Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, Test repaired equipment for proper performance, Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work, Service attachments and working tools Additional Skills: Instruct apprentices, Keep maintenance reports and documentation Security and Safety: Driving record check (abstract), Drug test, Driver’s validity license check Own Tools/Equipment: Tools, Steel-toed safety boots, Safety glasses/goggles, Gloves Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding, Attention to detail Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Valid driver’s licence Work Location Information: Staff accommodation available, Willing to relocate Essential Skills: Reading text, Document use, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Significant use of memory, Finding information, Continuous learning Other Information: Drug Screening required.
