Credentials required: The applicant should have Cement Finisher Trade Certification, 3rd Period Apprentice, Cement Finisher Red Seal Certificate, First Aid Certificate, WHMIS, Driver’s License.

Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Commercial, Residential, Sidewalks and curbs

Area of Specialization: Waterproofing, Grouting, Decorative finishing, Floor pouring, Curing concrete, Floor levelling, Floor finishing, Slab installation

Materials Used: Hardners and epoxies, Colours and sealers, Reinforcing membrane and protective covering

Specific Skills: Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement material, Direct placement of concrete into forms or surfaces, Fill hollows and remove spots on freshly poured cement, Operate power vibrators to compact concrete, Level top surface concrete according to grade and depth specification, Finish concrete surfaces using hand and power tools, Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures, Apply hardening and sealing components to cure surfaces, Waterproof, damp proof and restore surfaces, Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures, Signal and direct pumping from concrete mixing trucks, Strip concrete forms, Utilize laser levelling technology, Cut control joints, Erect scaffolding and swing stages
