Salary: will be negotiated and depends on the skills and experience of the applicant.

Education: The applicant should have some college or technical training.

Experience: two to three years’ experience.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Social Service Worker (SSW) Diploma, Community Support Worker (CSW) Diploma, Human Services Diploma, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Medication Administration Certificate, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate, First Aid Certificate.

Work Setting: Group home, Social service agency

Target Groups or Clients: Male, Female, Persons with intellectual disabilities, Persons with mental health disabilities

Type of Community or Social Service: Programs dealing with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Programs dealing with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)

Specific Skills: Obtain information and prepare reports or case histories, Appraise clients’ needs or eligibility for specific services, Resolve conflict situations, Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses, Implement behaviour management programs, Provide personal services support to persons with special needs, Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients, Screen, recruit and train volunteers and support staff

Additional Skills: Administrative and office activities, Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers

Security and Safety: Criminal record check, Child abuse registry check, Child welfare check, Driving record check (abstract)
