Terms: This is a permanent, full time job, which requires working days and weekends. Some overtime will be available.

Education: The applicant should have completed high school.

Experience: at least five years’ experience.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate.

Type of Heavy Equipment Operated: Backhoe excavator, loader, Bulldozer, large or small, Front end loader, Loader, Compactor

Type of Work Experience: Fine grading and finishing, Sloping and banking, Backfilling, Demolition, Excavating, Rough grading, Stripping, Sub-grade excavating, Trenching, Material handling, Snow removal

Work Setting / Industry Experience: Residential construction, Industrial/commercial/institutional (ICI) construction

Specific Skills: Operate heavy equipment, Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks, Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, Secure special attachments to equipment, Perform minor repairs to equipment

Additional Skills: Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications, Utilize material safety data sheets (MSDS), Utilize GPS devices (Global Positioning Systems)

Security and Safety: Driving record check (abstract)

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat, Safety vest

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding, Attention to detail

Work Site Environment: Outdoors

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Own vehicle, Valid driver’s licence, Public transportation is not available
