Terms: This is a permanent, full time job, which requires working days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Shift work is involved.

Salary: will be negotiated and depends on the skills and experience of the applicant.

Education: The applicant should have some high school.

Experience: two to three years’ experience.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Driver’s Licence (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Professional Driver Improvement Certificate.

Type of Trucking and Equipment: Tractor-trailer, Van, Refrigerated, Dry bulk

Type of Travel: Short-haul, Local, Regional, Provincial/territorial

Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Accident or incident reports

Communication Equipment Experience: Trip recorder (on-board computer), Citizens band (CB) radio, Cellular phone, Satellite tracking (GPS) equipment

Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Specific Skills: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Receive and relay information to central dispatcher, Drive lighter, special purpose trucks, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness, Perform preventive maintenance, Perform emergency roadside repairs

Additional Skills: Professionalism in customer service, Handle inquiries from customers, Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques

Security and Safety: Basic security clearance, Driving record check (abstract)

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding

Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s licence
