Terms: This is a permanent, full time job Shift work is involved.

Salary: will be $20.00 to $25.00 per hour for a 70 hour week.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Driver’s Licence (Class 1 or A), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate, WHMIS Certificate, H2S (Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness) Training, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, Air Brake Adjustment Certificate.

Type of Travel: Short-haul, Local

Documentation Knowledge: Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Accident or incident reports, Dangerous goods occurrence reports

Communication Equipment Experience: Citizens band (CB) radio, Cellular phone

Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Specific Skills: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Loading and unloading of goods, Receive and relay information to central dispatcher, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness, Perform preventive maintenance, Perform emergency roadside repairs

Additional Skills: Professionalism in customer service, Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques

Security and Safety: Driving record check (abstract), Drug test

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Own vehicle, Valid driver’s licence, Public transportation is not available
